Conference Workshop Format
All workshop sessions will be 60 or 75 minutes in length.
Conference Tracks
There are four main conference tracks. The topics listed under each track are potential topics and are intended as a starting point to generate ideas. Other workshop topics are welcome. The four conference tracks are:
1. System Transformations – Leveraging Learnings
Over the past year a lot of experience in building trust, partnership building and collaborative governance was gained. Many successes were reached, lessons learned and challenges overcome. At this year’s conference we are looking to highlight these stories and distill the key learnings from them. We’re are looking for sessions that cover:
2. Building our Sector’s Workforce for Tomorrow’s Health System
We know that transforming the healthcare sector demands that leaders work together differently, collaborate outside their organizations as well as work within and across sectors to amplify their impact. In this stream we are looking for sessions that will help our leaders be better prepared for collaboration, think more strategically and take on bigger and more complex challenges in their organizations. Sessions could include:
3. Redesigning service delivery to meet the changing needs of our clients
Despite the health system changes moving forward around us, our collective core mandate remains the same: delivery of services that keep people living well at home and in their communities. Every year there are countless program innovations across the province that improve people’s lives and new ways to attract and engage staff and volunteers.
We’re looking to identify the next wave of practical innovation and best practices that enhance how we deliver services to our clients. Potential topics includes:
4. Data Driven Decision Making
As we move forward with OHTs data and information will drive decision making. What we collect, and how we collect it, will determine where resources are allocated. We’re looking for sessions that will give delegates a clearer understanding of the opportunities data presents to the sector in an OHT world. Potential topics include:

- How to succeed in a low/no rules environment

In this stream we are looking for sessions that will help our leaders be better prepared for collaboration, think more strategically and take on bigger and more complex challenges in their organizations. Sessions could include:
- Empowering emerging leaders
- Addressing inter-generational challenges in our volunteer workforce
- Building skills for cross-sector collaboration
- Articulating your worth both as an individual and an organization
3. Redesigning service delivery to meet the changing needs of our clients

- Leveraging volunteers in unique ways
- Tips and tools for front-line staff recruitment and retention
- Transition to Practice: Supporting the success of your new PSWs and other staff
- Using our clients’ voices to improve our services

- Using social determinants of health data to influence decision making
- Health care in your hands – how apps will change service delivery
- Best practices in information sharing between providers
- Robots and artificial intelligence to predict service needs

Submission Guidelines
Please keep in mind the following guideline when preparing your abstract:
Abstract submissions may include a two-minute video or audio file. This is a great way to augment your online submission, and describe why your session is a must-have in the program.
- Presenters are prohibited from marketing products, services, software or other commercial ventures in their sessions;
- Presenters warrant that their presentation is their own original work, that they are the sole copyright holder or that they have obtained all necessary permissions or licenses from any persons or organizations whose material is included or used in their presentation;
- All PowerPoint presentations must be submitted to OCSA for review by October 1, 2020. There will be no changes to content, presenters, or slides after October 1, 2020 without OCSA’s approval. Slides should be submitted in 16:9 format whenever possible and if there are multimedia links their slide number should be noted in your submission.

Selection Process
Each workshop abstract will be reviewed by the members of the conference program advisory committee and ranked based on the overall quality of the proposal and the workshop’s fit to the conference as detailed in this rubric (please review the rubric before submitting your abstract).
Submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance as a speaker at the conference. All applicants will be contacted via email once the decision has been made by the selection committee.
If your workshop abstract is selected, a complimentary one-day registration will be provided for one speaker on the day of your presentation. Each additional speaker must register, a special conference rate is available.
